“Cap and Trade” Must be Stopped!

The “Cap and Trade” bill passed the house and now must be stopped in the Senate.   If it is passed, energy costs in this country will skyrocket and it will give the government, and the special interests, control over the emission of CO2.   Your homes will be audited to see if you are using more than your “fair share”, or perhaps you will be asked to buy carbon credits from who is someone using less CO2 or burying CO2 in the ground.  Presently some of the least expensive energy sources involve carbon and, when it is used it, creates CO2.  But this really is not a problem.  All the carbon fuels burned in the world each year can raise the CO2 level in the atmosphere (presently at 385 parts per million) an additional 4 ppm (1%) and that is without any of it being used by plants or dissolving into the oceans. The oceans, by the way, have 50 times more CO2 in them than the atmosphere.  There are many natural sources and uses of CO2.  Though there are good reasons to be concerned about fuels releasing mercury and perhaps other compounds such as NOx and Sox, CO2 is not a pollutant and is necessary for life.

CO2 levels do not control the weather.  We can’t say we know everything about the weather but the average temperatures and the CO2 levels seem to be related in that the hotter the overall earth temperature is, the more CO2 levels rise years later.  In other words global warming seems to cause CO2 levels to ultimately increase.

Consider the facts brought out by now retired senior NASA climatologist Dr. Roy Spencer and many others – here, here, and here.

There was a time period from 1940 to 1975 that earth’s temperatures fell and the establishment “experts” were trying to get us alarmed about a coming ice age.  This can be seen on the front covers of Newsweek, etc. of that time period.  CO2 levels at the time were increasing but it didn’t stop the cooling.  Please study the facts.  Mark Twain once joked that everybody complains about the weather but no one does anything about it.  Man now has the arrogance to think they can.  But our CO2  ”efforts”  from 1940 to 1975 didn’t work, the earth just kept cooling while CO2 kept rising.

We are asking the economy to shoulder extra unnecessary burdens.  It is like going to west Texas and digging holes and filling them up again. It could employ people it is true but how much benefit does society, or they, really receive from their labor?   However, they will need to be paid by those who are doing something of value.  In another comparison, we are asking some marathon racers (US) to put on 20 pound shoes and compete against their fellows, and we don’t know exactly why they should wear the extra weight.

All created goods, food, transported goods, and creature comforts, such as heated water and air conditioning, take energy.  If you control energy, you can control everything.   There is no assurance that wisdom, science, or common sense will prevail in how this control will be used.  Ultimately it will be made worldwide and it will all be based on a falsehood.  If the expected weather modification results are not enough, well, restrictions must be made more stringent.  Most economically oriented people cannot fathom that such amazing restrictions and worldwide effort could be directed toward something where it has not been proven to be necessary, the solution has not been proven effective, and the solution cannot be implemented fairly, however this is the case.  When power in high places distorts science, the economy, and other processes by choosing a complex system for their deceptions, ignoring or distorting the opposing results that are contrary to their agenda, and then propagandizing the people ad infinitum we know the agenda is power, not truth. Ultimately it is a battle for freedom.

Please get in the fight and get others involved.  Not all battles for freedom are lost on the battlefields of war.
