Well, here we are in another election year. In November we will take part in what could reasonably be said to be probably the most important election in this nation’s history. I believe that the outcome may well determine whether or not we the people are to be free or slaves.
That is assuming, of course, that we don’t enter into a devastating financial meltdown that leads to food riots, the imposition of martial law and the suspension of the November elections before then. Add to that the fact that the races might be tainted from the fraudulent Diebold electronic voting machines. All of which is entirely possible.
So if we make it all the way to November, we still have the daunting task of rooting out the bad guys (collectivists) and putting in the good guys (constitutionalists). In our nation’s case, that would mean taking out almost all of the incumbent Republicans and Democrats. Outside of a very select few, almost all of the House and most of the 33 Senators up for re-election must go. It is also true that the incumbents will be backed by a trainload of money while the patriots will probably not be so fortunate. If we fail this time, our future will look very dim indeed. It might then be the time that we will have to get out the guns and defend our freedom with bloodshed.
Are we up to the task of taking back our country by constitutional means? We will have to be because this is it. This is the showdown. If any feel that the odds are stacked against us, let me assure you, they are! But we have certain advantages on our side. What are they?
1. We have the truth and it will have a huge impact on the nation, if we can get the word out to enough of our friends. Daniel Webster said, “There is nothing so powerful as truth, and often nothing so strange.” If we are able to pull off this gargantuan task, that event will fulfill the second half of Webster’s statement.
2. We have the numbers. The fact that we outnumber this conspiracy by at least 1,000 to 1 (if not more) is the reason that they have treaded so lightly up ’til now. They have tried to even the odds by population control through wars, plagues and natural disasters but humans keep bouncing back. That blessing on our side is also a drawback because to reach so many people with the truth is a very daunting task, seeing as they control the news media. But word is reaching people every day. Thousands of groups across the country are learning the principles of freedom and the tactics of the enemy. But we must accelerate our efforts.
3. We have the intelligence. the collective intelligence of the many is always superior to the selective intelligence of the few, even though they may be well educated. We can use this intelligence to outmaneuver them, if we can become united.
4. We are still freemen. One of their greatest weaknesses is that they believe in a top down control system while we rely on individual initiative. One of the reasons that the Soviet Union never engaged in war with us is that they knew they couldn’t win. In all their war-time scenarios, one fact always stood out and kept them from attacking us: The US soldier will often perform in a pro-active manner, as opposed to the Soviet soldier that must only act when and how they are told. Today, the insiders know that American initiative can always defeat the greatest central planning.
5. The most important reason that we will win rests on the fact that we can rely on help from Heaven while they can’t. That reliance rests on a certain condition. That is, if we repent of our collective sin of sitting idly by and letting this combination gain power and control over us. If we can overcome our inertia and call on God for help, and return out nation to its Christian foundations, we will win. Because of that, of all the protest flags that I see at the rallies, the one that impresses me most is the one with the pine tree in the middle, with the caption, “An Appeal to Heaven.” We must never forget that.
Now let’s consider how can we tell who to vote for? This has been the most frustrating part of being free. If all the candidates would stand up and tell us exactly what they believed in and what they will do if elected, it would be easy to tell the good guys from the bad. But the liars will try to mimic the good guys and say all the right things. However, there are certain ways of discerning the good from the bad. One is just listen to them talk and compare that to what the founders say.
For instance, in the last election, all of the candidates promised to wage a war on terrorism that had no end in sight. In fact, McCain promised to stay in Iraq for 50 years if necessary. Contrast that to what Madison said when he stated that if tyranny comes to America, it will most likely come under the guise of perpetual war. Perpetual war destroys freedoms at home.
One other way to see if the candidate is on the right track is to listen to how they mention the Constitution. In the last election, I noticed not only what they said, but what they didn’t say. I can’t remember one candidate that ever mentioned following the Constitution, except for Ron Paul. He was the only one. All the others, including Mitt Rommey, hardly mentioned the Constitution at all. Christ once said, “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.” Use that criteria to determine where the candidate stands on any issue. If they are miltiarists, they will speak about the military might of the US. If they are welfare statists, they will talk about the plight of the poor and how we need to help them. If they are constitutionalists, they will speak about and dwell upon the Constitution and how we need to return to it. Just let them speak and learn where their hearts really lie.
The third way to determine their hearts is to study their voting record. That is probably the most telling. From time to time, the incumbents will send out flyers or pamphlets informing the voters on what they are doing in Congress. I remember seeing a number of pamphlets in which the incumbent bragged about all the federal money they were able to bring into the state. They were actually proud of their part in the destruction of our freedoms. One incumbent stated that he had helped to bring in federal money for hiking trails. Another told how he obtained a certain amount of federal money for recreational buildings for the youth to have fun, so that they won’t become juvenile delinquents. All of this, while worthwhile, is strictly unconstitutional. I still have those flyers.
I know that those incumbents, who are still in office to this day, are following unconstitutional activities. If they don’t know the principles of freedom, or are unwilling to follow them, even though they take an oath to uphold the Constitution, they are a danger to our freedoms. They must be replaced or we will get more of the same. We cannot afford that luxury any more.
As a parting comment, the following quotation comes from the First Presidency on how to vote:
“We have urged you, above all, to try to support good and conscientious candidates of either party who are aware of the great dangers inherent in communism and who are truly dedicated to the constitution in the tradition of our fathers. We have suggested also that you should support candidates who pledge their sincere fidelity to our liberty—a liberty which aims at the preservation of both personal and property rights.” (David O. McKay, “Vote Your Convictions,” Deseret News, 11/2/64)
So we should vote for: 1. Someone who is aware of the secret combinations, 2. Someone who is truly dedicated to the original vision of the Constitution and 3. Someone who is dedicated to the preservation of personal and property rights.
That would exclude anyone who wants to make deals with communism or who has communists as personal friends, or who doesn’t believe in the conspiratorial view of history. Add to that someone who has made deals to bypass the Constitution so that he could get some money for Utah, under whatever project it may be named. And the kicker is that if that person doesn’t stand for the removal of the Fed and the elimination of the income tax, then he or she does not stand for property rights or the Constitution. Where is the Federal Reserve mentioned in the Constitution?
Last of all, make the candidates take an oath in front of you and the audience to uphold and defend the Constitution in the tradition of the founders, and make them sign it on paper in front of everyone. One provision of the oath is that if they don’t uphold the Constitution, they will resign their seats. That will separate the men from the boys, so to speak.

The only 2008 candidates for federal office that I know of who did not demonstraate disdain for the US Constitution and constitutional principles were Ron Paul and Chuck Baldwin. I wish I could believe we had a chance of restoring our freedoms as given us by the Constitution as intended by those who finalized it. But I am afraid that there are too many Amereicans who would not want to return to such a governmnet. And among those who might be aware of their responsibility to defend and uphold constitutional principles are many who judge candidates by other criteria which in 2008 misled many to vote for a presidential candidate who had demonstrated lack of intellect to understand the Constitution and/or lack of integrity to be guided by it.
Our American heritage as passed to us by our forefathers is the Constitution. Those signers of that document risked their lives, fortunes and reputations… they were few in number but did that which was right. Let us not forget the blood that was spilled on our shores in the name of freedom. My ancestors left the Book of Mormon to help give us courage in these troubled times. I may not be able to save my country but I will save the Constitution for my children at any cost. I have my faith, my fellow patriots and the Lord God… nothing else matters for we are the army of Helaman.
Ken wrote above that he ” can’t remember one candidate that ever mentioned following the Constitution, except for Ron Paul. He was the only one. All the others, including Mitt Rommey, hardly mentioned the Constitution at all.” I note that Mitt Romney is seriously considering running again for President in 2010. His demonstrated disdain for both certain constitutional and moral principles needs to be brought to the attention of as many American LDS voters as possible. He serves as a classic example of how most American LDS voters have failed to awaken to the existence of “secret combinations” and also to their responsibility to honour the US Constitution.
Romney has been advised of his failures to support specific constitutional and moral principles, and also of his failure to speak of when God spoke to men subsequent to his speaking to Moses at the bush. He may try to clean up his act. I have no faith that he will. Therefore, I think it behoves us to watch him closely and find ways to make his failures known to as many LDS as possible.
