When the Mob Rules

There has been Trouble in Texas, and Misery in Missouri as Patriots try to uphold and defend the Constitution through the Caucus/Convention process.

There has been Trouble in Texas, and Misery in Missouri as Patriots try to uphold and defend the Constitution through the Caucus/Convention process.

Roger Babson, a leading economist of his time said decades ago: “Only religion can prevent democratic rule from developing into mob rule. A nation can prosper only as its citizens are religious, intelligent, capable of service and eager to render it.” And then this great man said, and it is something to which we should give careful attention, “Every great panic we have ever had has been foreshadowed by a general decline in observance of religious principles.” 1

Abraham Lincoln told all Americans that they need not fear a threat from without, but that if danger came to our nation, it would be from within. “We would be its author and finisher. We would either live as “freemen through all time, or die by suicide.”

And before Lincoln, George Washington, our first president, said: “..we ought to be no less persuaded that the propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right which Heaven itself has ordained. …”

“We should stand with a front like flint against every spirit or species of contempt or disrespect for the Constitution of our country and the constitutional laws of our land.” 2

Brigham Young said, “I heard Joseph say, nearly thirty years ago, “Mobs will not decrease, but will increase until the whole government becomes a mob, and eventually it will be state against state, city against city, neighborhood against neighborhood, it will be Christian against Christian, man against man.”

Have we seen those words fulfilled? Is there any evidence that our government is becoming as a mob? Do we feel any threat to our wealth or property if we do not do as the government bids us to do? I believe that I have seen enough evidence since February of this year, that this is that time.

Here is just one small glimpse of evidence:

If it has trickled down, what is at the top?

There is mob rule from top to bottom, and good people are required to become engaged in order to stand firm and root it out. It is only good, upright and righteous people that can and will uphold ruling by the law. The Constitution is meant for a moral people, and those that remain must stand or be witnesses to its destruction.

After pondering and praying about whether or not to stay engaged as the threats and challenges have increased, I found this quote by Cheryll Lynn May from the 1976 Ensign: “Although ancient and latter-day scriptures warn that increasing political violence and corruption will precede the millennium, Latter-day Saints must continue during this pre-millennial period to struggle to maintain the political freedoms essential to the spread and practice of the gospel.” It is a struggle on so many levels, but that quote and this one By President Eyring have kept me going. “Those who never give up will find that God never gave up and that He will help them.”

“And this cometh unto you, O ye Gentiles, that ye may know the decrees of God-that ye may repent, and not continue in your iniquities until the fulness come, that ye may not bring down the fulness of the wrath of God upon you as the inhabitants of the land have hitherto done.” (Ether 2:10-11.)

“Behold, I speak unto you as if ye were present, and yet ye are not. But behold, Jesus Christ hath shown you unto me, and I know your doing. And I know that ye do walk in the pride of your hearts; and there are none save a few only who do not lift themselves up in the pride of their hearts, unto the wearing of very fine apparel, unto envying, and strifes, and malice, and persecutions, and all manner of iniquities. …” (Morm. 8:35-36.)
